Hunters Feeding Michigan
A partnership between the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the
Food Bank Council of Michigan to provide safe, nutritious venison to families across the state.
Together, the Food Bank Council of Michigan (FBCM) and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) ensure that donated venison meets the highest food safety standards, including required lead scanning, and reaches families in need through FBCM’s network of seven regional food banks and more than 2,500 community agencies serving all 83 Michigan counties.
In 2023 to 2024, the program provided 114,817 pounds of venison, high-quality protein fully funded by donors. With continued support, Hunters Feeding Michigan aims to process 300,000 pounds per year, expanding access to healthy food while helping manage Michigan’s deer population and reduce waste.
