State of the State

State of the State

Michigan’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer recently held sway over the Legislature, guests, department leaders, supreme court justices when she shared her 6th State of State address. I was in attendance as well while most of Michigan watched and listened in the comfort of their homes. The atmosphere was a bit electric with the legislative and executive branches being aligned to support each others agendas. Last year the leadership in the house and senate came out fast and furious with legislation they believe in and have not been able to pass for some 40 years.

In this episode, our friend, colleague and lobbyist Stephanie Johnson is here to help us unpack the State of the State address and the upcoming legislative session and how their work and priorities impact our work of creating a food secure state.
