Food Security Council Public Meeting
In compliance with Executive Order 2020-154, Alternative means to conduct government business during the COVID-19 Pandemic, a meeting with a public body may be held electronically to assist in slowing the spread of the virus.
Executive Order 2020-167: Food Security Council, explains, “Food insecurity is a pressing and persistent problem in Michigan. Despite the tireless work of numerous individuals and groups, many Michigan residents continue to live without reliable, daily access to an adequate amount of affordable, nutritious food.” It went on to explain, “Food insecurity is a pressing and persistent problem in Michigan. Despite the tireless work of numerous individuals and groups, many Michigan residents continue to live without reliable, daily access to an adequate amount of affordable, nutritious food.” Therefore, a Food Security Council was created and will be conducting meetings according to the Open Meetings Act.
In accordance with Governor Whitmer’s executive order the Food Security Council will be conducting open meetings.
To participate in the public commenting process at any Food Security Council meeting, please submit an email to kdebow@fbcmich.org before noon on the Monday preceding the Tuesday meeting date. You may either submit your comments via email, and they will be read into the record, or if you wish to speak at the meeting, you will be placed on a list to speak when the “Public Comment” item on the agenda is announced for that meeting. The list will be in order of emails received. When your name is called during the Food Security Council meeting, you will have three minutes to offer your public comment for the record.
