Kenneth R. Estelle
CEO, Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank
Kenneth R. (Ken) Estelle was appointed as the Chief
Executive Officer of Feeding America – West Michigan Food Bank in April 2011. He leads this organization that provides 25
million pounds of food annually to over 1300 charitable agencies in 40 Michigan
counties, reaching nearly 400,000 people.
The Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank was founded in 1981 and was the
first to develop a mobile pantry program that provides fresh produce and other
perishable products directly to communities.
Ken also currently serves on the board of directors of the Food Bank
Council of Michigan.
Prior to joining Feeding America, Ken spent 32 years in the
aerospace and defense industry. From
1979 to 1998 he held a number of engineering and management positions with
Honeywell Aerospace in Phoenix AZ. In
1998 Ken moved to Grand Rapids MI where he held international marketing and
executive management positions for Smiths Aerospace (now GE Aviation). In 2007 he accepted a senior executive
position with Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids IA, managing one of that
company’s largest business units operating 47 facilities in 27 countries.
Through their time in Grand Rapids, MI and Cedar Rapids, IA,
Ken and his wife Kathy were active anti-hunger advocates and community
volunteers. They worked with mobile food
pantries in Michigan, and with flood cleanup and restoration in Iowa. In 2011, Ken made the decision to retire from
aerospace and focus on hunger relief full time.
Ken holds degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer
Science. He and his wife Kathy are
natives of West Michigan. Ken enjoys
spending time with family, as well as playing guitar and cello. You may also see him touring the back roads
of Michigan on his Harley Road King. They
