Food Bank Council of Michigan Receives $5 Million to Support the Health of Children and Seniors

A Grant from Michigan Health Endowment Fund Creates New Statewide Program

Food Bank Council of Michigan (FBCM) will receive $5 million over two years to implement a new, state-wide program supporting the nutritional health of low income residents, with an emphasis on children and seniors.  Michigan Food Bank Access to Nutrition (MIFBAN) is a 2014 pilot program supported with funding through the Michigan Health Endowment Fund.  Read More >>>



Food Bank Council of Michigan Welcomes Dr. Phillip Knight as its Executive Director


Phillip Knight.jpgFood Bank Council of Michigan’s (FBCM) Board of Directors have selected Dr. Phillip Knight as FBCM’s new Executive Director.  
Dr. Knight comes to FBCM from Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Michigan Capital Region, where he was instrumental in providing leadership that resulted in increased organizational collaboration, the implementation of successful fund development strategies, and multiple new strategic partnerships. Prior to his time at Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Dr. Knight provided leadership mentoring in a variety of different settings, with a focus on the EQUIP model of leadership.  
“Phil brings an outstanding background of leadership as well as a heart for helping those in need in our community,” said Kenneth Estelle, Board Chair for Food Bank Council of Michigan.   “I look forward to working with Phil to help the Food Bank Council of Michigan continue to lead the fight against hunger in Michigan.”  Read More >>

Michigan Harvest Gathering

Thank you for your contributions to the 24th annual Michigan Harvest Gathering.  

In its 24th year, Michigan Harvest Gathering has exceeded its goal of securing two million meals for those in need. With more than 1.6 million people suffering hunger throughout the state, this campaign is vital to keeping people engaged in hunger relief as the generous giving season approaches.  To date, this campaign has raised $372,356 and 376,132 pounds of food, which will provide 2.1 million meals throughout the state.  Read More >>
