John Roberts

John Roberts leads Advantasure and its initiatives to drive success for clients, improve business operations and outcomes and create a dynamic, innovative work environment for Advantasure teams.

Roberts has a legacy of success at Emergent Holdings, a division of the country’s sixth largest health care plan and the largest plan in its region. His focus was on building a shared services business unit to maximize efficiencies among the family of companies. His key responsibilities included oversight of the Performance Office, Project Management, Procurement & Sourcing, Facilities, Security, Real Estate, Board Relations and special projects. John also served as Chief of Staff to the President of Emergent Holdings.

Before joining the Emergent Holdings family, Roberts served as the State Budget Director in Michigan reporting directly to Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder. As State Budget Director, he served as the Governor’s advisor on all fiscal matters. He was responsible for coordinating the state’s $54.9 billion budget, including development of the executive budget recommendation, presentation of the budget to the Legislature, and implementation of the budget after enactment. As State Budget Director, he administered the Office of Financial Management, the Office of Performance and Transformation, and the Center for Educational Performance and Information. Prior to becoming State Budget Director, Roberts served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Gov. Snyder. He previously served as the Director of the House Republican Policy Office.

Before returning to Michigan in 2011, John was Special Assistant to the President of the United States for Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House under President George W. Bush. He also served in the Office of Management and Budget. He began his White House career in the Office of the Press Secretary.

Roberts is a native of Michigan and received both his bachelor’s degree in Economics and his master’s degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University. He and his wife have one son.
